Professional Career

Bryne

At the age of five, Erling Haaland began in the academy of his hometown club Bryne. He played for Bryne’s reserve team and impressed, scoring 18 goals in 14 matches, during the 2015-2016 season. After some matches, he plays as a winger and striker. However, he failed to score in his breakthrough season at Bryne, Haaland was offered a trial by the German club 1899 Hoffenheim before eventually moving to Molde to play under Ole Gunnar Solskjær. In addition, he made 16 total senior appearances for Bryne.

Molde

Molde on the 1st of February 2017 that the club is signing a contract with the 16-year-old Haaland. On the 26th of April 2017, he made his debut for the club in a Norwegian Cup match against Volda TI, scoring on his debut in a 3–2 win. And, he made his debut goal in the same match. On the 4th of June 2017, he made his league debut against Sarpsborg 08. In his first season for Molde, he scored four goals. This footballer finished the 2018 season as Molde’s top goalscorer with 16 goals in 30 matches in all competitions.

Red Bull Salzburg

In August 2018, Haaland signed with the Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg. On the 1st of January 2019, he was announced to join the club. He scored his debut Salzburg hat-trick against SC-ESV Parndorf in the Austrian Cup on 19 July 2019.

On the 10th of August 2019, he scored his first Austrian Bundesliga hat-trick against Wolfsberger AC in a 5–2 victory. Similarly, he also became the first player ever to score as many goals in his first 3 matches in the Champions League.

Afterward, he got a third hat-trick for Salzburg on 14 September in a 7–2 victory over TSV Hartberg; this was the sixth consecutive league game Haaland had scored in, with 11 total goals.

He made his debut in the UEFA Champions League against Genk, where he scored three goals in the first half of an eventual 6–2 victory, his fourth overall hat-trick for Salzburg.

Following it, he was the second teenager after Karim Benzema in Champions League history to score in each of his first three appearances in the competition. Haaland was also part of the Salzburg team that won the 2018-19 Austrian Football Bundesliga and Austrian Cup.

Borussia Dortmund

In January 2020, he signed with German club Borussia Dortmund during the winter transfer. With the club, he signed a four-and-a-half-year contract worth €20 million.

On the 18th of January 2020, he made his debut appearance for the club against Augsburg. Where he scored a hat-trick within 23 minutes during his debut match in a 5-3 victory.

In his first half-season with the club, he scored a total of 13 goals and made two assists in 15 Bundesliga games. He scored three goals in four games to help Dortmund win the DFB-Pokal title in the 2020-21 season.

He finished as the Champions League’s top goal-scorer for the 2020-21 season and was also named the Bundesliga player of the season following his electric performances in front of goal.

In the 2021-2022 season, he began with a hat trick over Wehen Wiesbaden in the first round of the DFB-Pokal on 7 August 2021. Having a good start, but during the first months of the season, Haaland was sidelined with a hamstring injury, returning on 16 October and scoring a brace against Mainz in a 3–1 victory.
Afterward, he suffered a hip flexor injury, which sidelined him for two months. On the 27th of November 0f 2021, he made his return in a win over a 3-1 goal and scored his 50th Bundesliga goal.
With this, he set a new record for the fewest appearances and also became the youngest player to score 50 league goals. However, Dortmund announced that Haaland would be leaving at the end of the season to sign for Premier League club Manchester City on 10 May.
He played the last match for the club against Hertha BSC and scored Dortmund’s first goal in a 2–1 win.

Manchester City

On May 10, 2022, English club Manchester City announced they had reached a deal to sign Haaland after activating his €60 million (£51.2 million) release clause with a five-year deal.

He made his debut on 30 July, playing 90 minutes in a 3–1 defeat to Liverpool in the 2022 FA Community Shield. Similarly, he scored two goals on his league debut in a 2–0 away victory against West Ham United on the 7th of August.

He scored his first Premier League hat-trick in a 4–2 victory against Crystal Palace on the 27th of August and scored his second, a perfect hat-trick, four days later in a 6–0 win against Nottingham Forest.

After this, he was named the quickest individual in Premier League history to score two hat-tricks, beating the previous record by 14 matches; he was later voted Premier League Player of the Month for August, his first month playing in the league.

He made his Champions League debut for the club on the 6th of September, scoring two goals against Sevilla and becoming the first player to score 25 goals in 20 Champions League appearances.

In addition, he became the first player in Premier League history to score a hat-trick in three successive home games in City’s 6–3 win against Manchester United, in which he also got two assists. He scored a hat-trick against Wolverhampton Wanderers on the 22nd of January 2023.

International Career

Haaland was eligible to play from England’s side through his father. However, this football player chose Norway to represent on an international level. This football star has represented Norway in different age categories U15, U16, U17, U18, U19, U20, and U21 teams.

He scored five goals in three World Cup qualification matches, including a second hat-trick for Norway in a 5–1 victory against Gibraltar, during the September 2021 international break.
