Talking about her career, Following his graduation from Lane Tech in 1990, Machado relocated to New York City. She gained performance experience with the Latino Chicago Theater Company, which paved the way for her career there.
She soon received a job offer from Los Angeles, California, to work as a professional actress. After relocating to Los Angeles, Machado landed her first two acting jobs in 1996.
In an audition for the television show Six Feet Under on June 10, 2001, Machado was chosen to play Vanessa Diaz, a supporting role who later developed into one of the main characters.
A Screen Actors Guild Award for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series” was given to Machado and her cast mates. In 2005, the show’s final season was finished.
