Jay Park is a well-known rapper, singer-songwriter, record producer, dancer, and entrepreneur from the United States. Jay Park is a member of the breakdancing crew ‘Art of Movement’ which has performed in South Korea and several other nations across the world.
Early Life
On the 25th of April 1987, in Edmonds, Washington, the United States of America, Jay Park was born. His birth name is Park Jae-beom and holds American nationality.
As of 2022, he is 36 years old and has a birth sign of Taurus. Similarly, he has a belief in Christianity by religion and belongs to Korean descent by ethnicity.

He is the son of Park Young-jun (father) and Choi Mi-jung. Jay Park (mother). Moreover, he grew up with his brother whose name is Jehan Park. He had a keen interest in hip-hop music and breakdancing from an early age.
Education
Talking about his academic career, he studied at Edmonds Woodway High School where he spent most of his time practicing a dance with his friends. After listening to hip-hop and rap music, he began writing rap himself.
In 2003, he became one of the early members of the breakdancing crew ‘Art of Movement.’Looking at his skills and talent, his mother suggested he audition for ‘JYP Entertainment’ which is based in Korea.
For it, he went to Korea where was trained in dancing, rapping, singing, and also the Korean language. Later, he enrolled at Dankook University where he completed his graduation in a few years.
Professional Career
2 AM Band
In a documentary-style reality program named ‘Hot Blood Men,’ Jay Park first appeared in the program, where several young aspiring musicians were featured. In the show, the participants were divided into two groups 2 AM and 2 PM.
Moreover, Park managed to get the most fan votes and emerged as the leader of 2 PM. They released their debut song ’10 Out of 10’ in September 2008 and their mini-album ‘Hottest Time of the Day’ was also released around this time.
The group released their first professional album ‘01:59 PM’ in November 2009. The album included songs like ‘Heartbeat,’ ‘Tired of Waiting,’ ‘I Was Crazy About You,’ and ‘Gimme the Light.’
Moreover, the album reached the South Korea Gaon Weekly albums charts and the Japan Oricon Weekly albums chart. After a controversy with the band, he left and went back to the United States in 2010.
Solo and YouTube Career
After coming back to the USA, he decided to pursue a solo career and launched his YouTube channel, ‘@jayparkaom.’ Uploading his first and own version of ‘Nothin’ on You,’ it went viral and reached over 200k views in less than 24 hours.
Moreover, he was also involved with the ‘Art of Movement’ on multiple occasions. He released his mini-album ‘Take a Deeper Look’ in the year 2011. The album includes ‘Touch the Sky,’ ‘Abandoned,’ and ‘Tonight which was a huge success commercially and peaked at number 3 on the United States Billboard World Albums chart.

He also released the single ‘Girlfriend’ that same year. The single peaked at number 28 on the Gaon chart in South Korea. He released his first full album ‘New Breed’ in February 2012 and was a huge hit.
Moreover, it reached the first position on the Gaon Weekly albums chart two times and also charted in multiple countries like France and Canada.
Other albums and songs
He did his debut solo concert ‘New Breed Live in Seoul’ was held in March at the Olympic Hall of Seoul Olympic Park, and his second one ‘New Breed Asia Tour in Seoul’ was held in August of the same year at the same place.
Over the course, he released several albums including ‘Evolution’ (2014), ‘Worldwide’ (2015), and ‘Everything You Wanted’ (2016). He released his first official single under Roc Nation, “SOJU” featuring 2 Chainz in May 2018.
Moreover, he released his fifth solo studio album, The Road Less Traveled on the 7th of June 2019. He founded a new label, More Vision on the 3rd of March 2022.
Television appearances
In 2012, he began a web series that showed his daily life with his friends and also featured behind-the-scene shots of his concerts.
Moreover, he has also appeared and participated in multiple TV shows, such as ‘Saturday Night Live Korea,’ ‘Show Me the Money 4,’ ‘King of Mask Singer,’ and ‘Asia’s Got Talent.’
