Ellen Judith Litwack is her mother and Gerald J. Litwack is her father. Her mother is a poet and speech therapist. Likewise, her father is a molecular pharmacologist, college professor, and chairman.

Kat Dennings began appearing in commercials when she was 10 and later began acting full-time after relocating to Los Angeles with her family and adopting the surname ‘Dennings.’ Her first acting job was in an ad for potato chips.
She Dennings debuted on television as an obnoxious 13-year-old in the episode ‘Hot Child in the City’ of HBO’s ‘Sex and the City’, in 2000. She then became a star in the short-lived WB sitcom Raising Dad from 2001 to 2002 as Sarah. Kat appeared in the 2002 Disney Channel film ‘The Scream Team’, followed by guest appearances in series such as ‘Without a Trace‘, ‘Less than Perfect’, ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’, ‘Clubhouse’ and ‘CSI: NY.’
Kat made the move to the large screen with supporting roles in Raise Your Voice (2004), The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), and Big Momma’s House 2 (2006). Then she featured in roles in The House Bunny (2008) and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist (2008). She continues to act in feature films and is an avid video blogger. Since 2011, she has been a star with Beth Behrs in the CBS television series 2 Broke Girls (2011).

In 2018, it announced that Dennings would star as Abby in the comedy film Friendsgiving. She is set to star in the lead role in the Hulu comedy series Dollface, which is set to premiere in November 2019. She will also restore her role as Darcy Lewis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Similarly, Kat will be having a starring role in the Disney Plus superhero series Wanda Vision, which is set to premiere in December 2020.
