Jake started his career as a youth player for Scunthorpe United, but a broken leg ended his chances with his hometown club. Following his recovery, he was offered trials with Bentleigh Greens and Sunshine George Cross in Australia, where he eventually played professionally for two years.
Jake later returned to England, where he played for Frickley Athletic in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, Premier Division. He most recently played in the Northern Counties East Football League for Lincolnshire club Bottesford Town.
