Other Achievements
After unseating Chinese opponent Li Xuerui, she positioned herself as the Number 1 player in the Super Series rankings in March 2015. She defeated Li Xuerui once more in April to claim her second consecutive victory in the super series.
Marin won the Australian Open the following month by defeating Wang Shixian of China. After beating Tee Jing Yi, Pai Yu-Po, and Wang Shixian to win the World Championships in Jakarta in June 2015, she became a cultural icon.

Injuries and comeback
She started her 2019 season by finishing second in the Malaysia Masters, where she was defeated by Ratchanok Intanon in a single set. On January 27, she, who had a 10-3 lead after the first game of the Indonesia Masters final versus Saina Nehwal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
She later withdrew from the game and had ACL multiple surgeries the moment she returned to Madrid the next day. She underwent physical and technical rehabilitation for four months, spending ten hours a day.
After being out for eight months due to the injury, she returned to compete in September at the 2019 Vietnam Open but lost to Supanida Katethong in the first round. She was able to recover, though, and on September 22 she won the China Open by defeating Tai Tzu-Ying by the scores of 14-21, 21-17, and 21-18 in the finals.
In 2021
Carolina Marín defeated World Number 1 Tai Tzu-Ying in two easy games to win the Thailand Open Super 1000 tournament, her first victory of the year. She defeated young Dane Line Christophersen in the final to become the first athlete to win five straight championships at the European Championships.
She was supposed to defend her title in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo but was forced to retire after suffering a knee injury while training in June.
