He began his basketball career after studying at Skyline High School, where he was awarded Parade All-American. As a junior, he averaged 23.2 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.
He averaged 23.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 4.8 assists as a senior at Skyline. He was voted All-Dallas Player of the Year after leading the high school to the Class 5A Region II quarterfinals.
In addition, he was selected as a McDonald’s High School All-American in 2005. Similarly, Rivals.com ranked him as the 19th-best senior in the country, while Scout.com placed him as the 10th-best senior in the country.
He also finished his high school career with 13 points in the McDonald’s All-America Game and 16 points in the Michael Jordan Classic.

Utah Jazz
CJ started his professional career with the Utah Jazz, who signed him to a two-year agreement. As a result, he became the Jazz’s youngest player in franchise history.
CJ was assigned to the Albuquerque Thunderbirds of the NBA Development League (D-League) for the 2005-06 season to get more basketball experience.
He appeared in 21 games in the 2006-07 season. He was assigned to the Idaho Stampede of the D-League once more.
On July 25, 2008, he signed an extension with the Utah Jazz. During the 2010-11 season, he was assigned to the Utah Jazz’s sixth-man role.
Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers
On August 8, 2012, CJ signed a contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He set a Cavaliers franchise record with 10 three-pointers in a 111–93 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.
On July 11, 2014, he completed a four-year collaboration with the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers defeated the Washington Wizards 123-106 after scoring 32 points. After joining the Pacers, this became his greatest game.
Toronto Raptors
Following his career with the Indian Pacers, the young athlete signed a three-year contract with the Toronto Raptors, making his debut in 2007.
In his first game with the Raptors, a 117-100 win over the Chicago Bulls, he scored 22 points. He joined the Memphis Grizzlies on February 7, 2017, along with Jonas Valanciunas and Delon Wright.
Washington Wizards and NBA G League Ignite
He traded to the Washington Wizards on July 6, 2019, in exchange for Dwight Howard. Unfortunately, he had ligament surgery on his left wrist on December 4, 2019.
He announced he to be back on the Washington Wizards on January 12, 2020, following a thorough recovery, however, he was unfortunately dismissed by the franchise.
