Dwight started his career as a kickboxer. He was a WKA (World Kickboxing Association) middleweight champion. After this, he decided to pursue his career in Mixed Martial Arts MMA. He began his professional MMA career in 2011 after getting an amateur record of 3–1.
Primarily, he fought in the provincial circuit of the northeastern United States. Before signing in UFC, he scored a record of 8-1. Similarly, on 19th June 2018, he fought with Tyler Hill at Dana White’s Contender Series 10. However, he won the fight through knockout in the second round. This win gained him the UFC contract.
UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) Career
He made his promotional debut on 11-day notice at UFC on June 19, 2018, two months after his win against Hill. He was defeated by a split decision. On January 19, 2019, he was set to fight Chance Renountre, who was filling in for Randy Brown, at UFC Fight Night: Cejudo vs. Dillashaw. However, due to an “eye condition,” he was unable to get cleared to fight and withdrew from the bout.
On February 23, 2019, he fought against Carlo Pedersoli Jr. at UFC Fight Night: Bachowicz vs. Santos. In the first round, he won through technical knockout. Likewise, this victory earned him the award for Best Performance of the Night. On April 13, 2019, he fought Alan Jouban at UFC 236.

Also, he was awarded a split-decision victory in the fight. On August 22, 2020, he was set to meet Jared Gooden at UFC on ESPN 15. Gooden, on the other hand, withdrew from them during the week leading up to the tournament due to an unexplained injury. Instead, he had to deal with Daniel Rodriguez. In the first round, he was knocked out.
He was supposed to fight Li Jingliang at UFC 256 on December 12, 2020. On December 8, 2020, he tested positive for COVID-19 during fight week and was forced to withdraw from his welterweight battle versus Li. Additionally, on April 24, 2021, at UFC 261, he faced Stefan Sekula.
He was supposed to fight Gabriel Green at UFC Fight Night 196 on October 23, 2021. Green, however, was withdrawn from the partnership on September 23rd for unspecified reasons and replaced by Francisco Trinaldo. He was defeated by a split decision. He is set to meet Sergey Khandozhko at UFC Fight Night 207 on April 23, 2022.
