Elisabeta Lipa debuted when she was 19 years old at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, USA. She was able to win her first gold medal in the double sculls event in this Olympics.

She also took part in the Athens Summer Olympics in the year 2004 and was able to win the gold medal in the eighth. Likewise, Elisabeta is the only person to win a gold medal in the two premier rowing events: the single scull and the eight.

She also is one of the very few women to win a gold medal in both a sculling; two oars per person and a sweep; one oar per person event.

Moreover, Elisabeta Lipa was able to become the first female rower to compete at the sixth Olympics in the year 2004. Then, in the year 2008, she was awarded the “Thomas Keller Medal” at the Rowing World Cup in Lucerne.

She even was able to become an honorary citizen of her native town, Siret. Then, Elisabeta Lipa was able to serve as the Romanian Minister of Youth and Sport in the Cioloș Cabinet from November 2015 to January 2017.

She even served as the President of the Romanian Rowing Federation and the Dinamo București Sports Club since the year 2009.

Furthermore, Elisabeta has participated in many Olympics as well as World Championships. Lipa also has won all kinds of medals like gold, silver, and bronze as well.

At just 20 years old, she was able to hold the record among rowers for the most years between gold medals. However, she has now retired and is living a normal life with her family.
