Vikas Krishan is an Indian boxer. Vikas Krishan was able to win a gold medal in the 2010 Asian Games in the Lightweight category as well as a gold medal in the 75kg weight category at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He became the second boxer from India to qualify Olympics for the third time.

Career and Professional Life

Vikas Krishnan came to Bhiwani along with his father, who was transferred to this city in the year 1994. When he was 10 years old, he joined the Bhiwani Boxing Club in the year 2003. Then, he received training at the Army Sports Institute Pune.

Likewise, Vikas Krishan pulled out of his Asian Qualifiers final match. Krishnan was scheduled to face Zeyad Eashash in the final, however, with an eye injury, he ended his campaign with a silver medal. However, he won the Gold medal in men’s 75kg in the Common Wealth Games.

Vikas Yadav was able to win a gold medal at the 2010 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships, organized in Tehran, Iran. He was able to win the medal in the Lightweight category, after defeating Evaldas Petrauskas of Lithuania.

He then was able to win a bronze medal in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in the Lightweight category. Yadav even won the gold medal in the 2010 Asian Games held in Guangzhou, China.

Vikas Krishnan was able to reach the final bout of the Middleweight category at the 2015 Asian Boxing Championships and won the silver medal. He also was a participant at the 2015 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Doha, Qatar, he lost in the quarter-finals.

2020 Tokyo Olympics

Vikas Krishan beats Japan’s Sewon Okazawa, World No. 6, and the third seed in the 69kg weight class by 5-0 and was able to book his Tokyo Olympic ticket. Likewise, he defeated Ablaikhan Zhussupov of Kazakhstan in the semifinals.

Moreover, Krishnan was able to become the only second Indian men’s boxer after Olympic bronze medalist Vijender Singh to qualify for the Third Olympics.

Vikas Krishnan received the “Best Boxer, National Championships, New Delhi” in the year 2010 and the “Arjuna Award” in the year 2012.
