Career
Roger Staubach started playing football in the Naval Academy for Midshipmen. Additionally, his position was usually the quarterback. In 1962, he played his 1st game against the University of Minnesota.
He played for the team until he graduated. Similarly, he was the captain of the baseball team of the Academy. In the 1964 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Cowboys.
The Cowboys were allowed to draft him 1 year before his college. Thus, due to his military commitment, he could not play professionally until 1969. In the 1964 American Football League Draft, he was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs.
He went to the Cowboy’s rookie camp in 1968. But, he was still in the Navy and used his annual military leave. Later, to join the training he resigned from his naval commission.

In 1970, the Cowboys won the first NFC title. Morton began the season as the starter, in 1971. But, after a loss to the New Orleans Saints, he assumed the role. He missed most of the seasons with a separated shoulder, in 1972.
But, he revealed Morton in a divisional playoff against the San Francisco 49ers. Thus, he won his job due to his performance. In the 1977 season, the Cowboys were led by him in a second Super Bowl. Therefore they were successful in winning it.
Later, he led the Cowboys to appear in Super Bowl X and Super Bowl XIII. In the NFL season of 1979, he scored his career highs. He retired od the season to protect his long-term health. Thus, he suffered 20 concussions in his playing career.
Likewise, he completed his 11 NFL seasons with 1,685 completions for 22,700 Yards. And, 153 touchdowns with 109 interceptions.
